Celebrating Community Spirit at Parachute’s Annual MayFest

In the heart of Parachute, Colorado, the annual MayFest has become a cherished tradition, bringing together residents and visitors for a day filled with activities, entertainment, and community engagement. Organized by Garfield County School District 16’s School-Based Family Resource Center, in partnership with the Jonathan D. and Mark C. Lewis Foundation and the Town of Parachute, MayFest offers something for everyone.

A Day Packed with Activities

The festivities kick off early with a 5K run at 8:00 AM, benefiting the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Garfield County. Participants can register in advance to secure their spot. Following the run, attendees can enjoy a pancake breakfast at 9:00 AM, with proceeds supporting the P.E.O. IW Chapter. The day continues with a bike derby and car show starting at 10:00 AM, providing fun for all ages. Food trucks and carnival games are available from noon, and the event culminates with a Battle of the Bands at 3:00 PM, showcasing local musical talent.

Fostering Community Connections

Beyond the entertainment, MayFest serves as a platform for youth, families, and community organizations to connect. The event features booths from local vendors and organizations, offering resources, career opportunities, and internships. This initiative aims to strengthen community ties and provide valuable information to attendees.

Looking Ahead

As Parachute continues to grow, events like MayFest play a crucial role in maintaining the town’s close-knit community spirit. Residents are encouraged to participate, volunteer, or simply enjoy the festivities, contributing to the event’s ongoing success and the town’s vibrant culture.
